Class of 2018 scholarships total $1.4M

Holyoke High School Class of 2018 earned a total of $1.4 million in scholarship and grant money. Students announced their future plans at the May 13 graduation ceremony.
    Anthony Beltran plans to attend Colorado State University in Fort Collins and major in electrical engineering. He received a Federal Pell Grant.
    Trey Bennett plans to attend Colorado State University in Fort Collins and major in turf management and ag business. He received the FCE Jolly Dozen Scholarship and the Kurtis Huss Memorial Scholarship.
    Keith Brown plans to attend Lincoln Technical College in Denver and major in welding. He received the Lincoln Technical College Scholarship.
    Linda Casanova plans to work for a year and then attend college.
    Nathan Casanova plans to continue studying at Holyoke High School and work to help his family.
    Monse Conde plans to enlist in the U.S. Army. He hopes to report to boot camp in 2018.
    Grace Dille plans to attend Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, and major in exercise science. She will also play on the volleyball and basketball teams. She received the Dordt College Presidential Scholarship, the Dordt College Distance Grant, the Dordt College Women’s Volleyball Athletic Scholarship, the Dordt College Women’s Basketball Athletic Scholarship, a Federal Pell Grant, the Defender Nation Grant, an SEO Grant, the Carolyn J. and Dennis J. O’Neal Scholarship, and the Gracey Memorial Athletic Scholarship.
    Andy Dominguez plans to attend Colorado State University in Fort Collins and major in engineering. He received the Colorado State University’s First Generation Scholarship; the Robert, Margaret and Garry Saylor Scholarship; the Colorado Student Grant; the Colorado State University Ram Grant; the Colorado State University Tuition Assistance Grant; a Federal Pell Grant; a Federal SEO Grant; and the Educational Opportunity Center Partnership Award.
    Mandy Dominguez plans to work for a year and then attend Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Boulder to pursue her culinary career.
    Yennifer Espinal plans to attend Northeastern Junior College in Sterling and major in education.
    Mackenzie Golden plans to work and attend Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs.
    Bailey Hamaker plans to attend Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas, and major in accounting. She received the FCE Jolly Dozen Scholarship, the Kansas State University Denison Scholarship and the Reimer Family Education Trust Scholarship.
    Victoria Hatton plans to attend Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska, and major in business. She received a Concordia University Nebraska Academic Dean’s Scholarship, the Congregations for CU-Nebraska, the Concordia University Nebraska Grant, the Lutheran Heritage Scholarship, a Federal Pell Grant, the Lutheran Hour Ministries Zone Rally 12, the Holyoke Lions Club Scholarship, the Holyoke Music Parents Association Scholarship and the Chapter BM P.E.O. Scholarship in memory of Marjorie Brewer.
    Taylor Hendrix plans to run for a state FFA office at the state FFA convention in June. She also plans to attend Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture and major in ag business. She will also be a part of the rodeo team at NCTA. Hendrix received the Highline Electric Association Two-Year Scholarship, the Raymond Peters Memorial Conservation Scholarship, the NCTA Aggie Scholarship, the Chapter BM P.E.O. Scholarship, the FFA Chapter Alumni Scholarship, the CHS Grainland Scholarship, the Northeast Colorado Cattlemen’s Association Scholarship, the Chevy Trucks/ Harchelroad Motors National FFA Scholarship and the Vieselmeyer Seed/Pioneer Hi-Bred Scholarship.
    Anna Jelden plans to attend Colorado State University in Fort Collins and major in fine arts with an emphasis in graphic design. She received the Challengers 4-H Scholarship, the Holyoke Friends of the Library Scholarship, the Colorado State Green and Gold Scholarship, the Joe and Theresa Ortner Family Trust Scholarship and the FCCLA Leadership Scholarship.
    Jair Jimenez plans to work in the cruise industry for six months and then go to college.
    Kaitlyn Kent plans to attend Lamar Community College in Lamar and major in horse training and management.
    Luke Krogmeier plans to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder and major in film studies. He received the Boettcher Foundation Full Academic Scholarship and the University of Colorado Regent Scholarship.
    Tyler Lamm plans to attend AIMS Community College in Greeley and major in communications and minor in political sciences. He received the FCCLA Leadership Scholarship, the Holyoke High School Class of 1956 Scholarship, the Holyoke Music Parents Association Scholarship, the V.F.W. Zeiler-Owens-Lindsay Post 6482 Two-Year Scholarship and the Velma Biddle Memorial Scholarship.
    Angel Madrid Quintana plans to attend Johnson and Wales University in Denver and major in culinary arts. He received the Johnson and Wales University Presidential Academic Scholarship.
    Antoni Martinez Matute plans to plans to Northeastern Junior College in Sterling and obtain an associate of arts degree so that he can pursue a four-year degree in engineering. He received the Fred and Ella Kropp Family Education Trust Scholarship and the Grace Ferguson Memorial Scholarship.
    Trevor Maupin plans to continue studying at Holyoke High School and work to help his family.
    Dalton Meyer plans to work for a year and then attend Northeastern Junior College and major in diesel mechanics.
    Omar Millan Gonzalez plans to work in the cattle industry.
    Tobin Moore plans to attend Southeast Community College in Milford, Nebraska, and major in ag diesel technology. He received the CHS Grainland Scholarship and the Larry Burt Memorial Scholarship.
    Brandon Nevarez plans to attend Ivy Technical College in Indianapolis, Indiana, and major in computer science. He received a Federal Pell Grant.
    James Oberle plans to work and attend Northeastern Junior College in Sterling and major in wind technology.
    Rebecca Owens plans to attend McCook Community College in McCook, Nebraska, and major in early childhood education. She received the Challengers 4-H Scholarship, the Walsh Brady Freshman Scholarship, the FFA Alumni Scholarship, the Chris Allan Eurich Memorial Scholarship, the Holyoke High School Class of 1956 Scholarship and the Velma Biddle Memorial Scholarship.
    Mariah Pell plans to attend the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and major in biological sciences. She received the UNC 1889 Founder’s Grant, the Colorado Student Grant, the University of Northern Colorado Provost Scholarship and the University of Northern Colorado Scholars Award.
    Dominique Penzing plans to attend the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley and major in elementary education. She received the Ruth Henderson Memorial Scholarship, the George Dalton Memorial Scholarship, the Haxtun Conservation District Garry Haynes Memorial Scholarship, the Holyoke Education Association Scholarship, the Kendon Olofson Memorial Scholarship, the Max Bernard Memorial Scholarship, the V.F.W. Zeiler-Owens-Lindsay Post 6482 Four-Year Scholarship, the FCCLA Leadership Scholarship, the UNC 1889 Founder’s Grant, a Federal Pell Grant, the Colorado Student Grant, and the University of Northern Colorado Bears Scholars Award.
    Natray Peregoy plans to continue working after high school.
    Luis Ponce has spent the last year learning the English language before returning to Mexico to attend college. He plans to attend a university in Mexico majoring in biomedical engineering.
    Holden Redman plans to attend Northwest Technical College in Goodland, Kansas, and major in electrical technology. He received the Clarence Robert Zoll Trust Scholarship, the Len Balderson Education Scholarship Trust and the William Lutze Education Trust Fund Scholarship.
    Yemi Ruiz Varela plans to work for a year and then attend cosmetology school.
    Drew Stewart plans to attend Eureka College in Eureka, Illinois, and major in biology. He received the Challengers 4-H Scholarship.
    Regan Van Overbeke plans to attend Colorado School of Mines in Golden and major in civil engineering. She received the Basin Electric Power Cooperative Scholarship, the Len Balderson Education Scholarship Trust, and the Stanley and Shirley Travis Scholarship.
    Rene Vega Juarez Jr. plans to continue working for CHS Grainland and also attend school to study welding.
    Jarrett Woodhead plans to attend Lamar Community College in Lamar and earn an associate of arts degree before transferring.
    Matt Yost has enlisted in the United States Navy and will report for basic training July 24 in Great Lakes, Michigan, where he will train to be a master at arms.
    Marcela Zuniga Espinal plans to work after high school and then pursue college or technical school.
