Class of 2019 announces plans, scholarships

    Holyoke High School’s graduating seniors earned $600,000 in grants and scholarships this year, which were announced, along with class members’ future plans, at the HHS graduation ceremony May 12.
    Cash Jacob Adler plans to attend Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs and major in psychology. He received the Mid-Plains Community College Freshman Academic Tuition Scholarship and Wall Family Memorial Scholarship.
    Andrea Becerra plans to attend Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction and major in psychology. She received the Colorado Grant, Federal Pell Grant, Colorado First Generation Grant, Holyoke Lions Club Scholarship, Holyoke Class of 1956 Scholarship, William Lutze Education Trust Fund Scholarship and Mary Ann & Joel S. Biddle Scholarship.
    Chase Carnal Beckner plans to attend Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs and major in range ecology. He received the Buck Lively CWWCA Scholarship.
    Sloane DeeAnn Bishop plans to attend Missouri Southern State University in Joplin and major in veterinary dentistry.
    Savannah Ganesa Burris plans to attend the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and major in nursing. She received the Foundation for Rural Services Scholarship, UCCS Chancellor’s Leadership Scholarship, UCCS Chancellor’s Award, Economic Impact and Opportunity Scholarship, PEO Chapter BM Scholarship, FCCLA Leadership Scholarship, Melissa Memorial Hospital Foundation Winona Rouze Nursing Scholarship, American Red Cross Scholarship, George Dalton Memorial Scholarship, and Joe and Theresa Ortner Family Trust Scholarship.
    Kaylee Rees Camblin plans to attend the University of Nebraska in Kearney and major in preradiology. She received the Gracey Memorial Athletic Scholarship, Carolyn J. and Dennis J. O’Neal Scholarship, Holyoke Federal Credit Union Scholarship, Melissa Memorial Hospital Foundation Charla Berry Memorial Scholarship, UNK Advantage Scholarship, Seaboard Scholarship, FBLA District IV Scholarship, Coloradans for Nebraska Award, Colorado Farm Show Scholarship and Highline Electric Scholarship.
    Karime Castillo plans to take a year off to work and then attend Northeastern Junior College in Sterling.
    Maura Fernanda Castillo plans to take a year off to work and then attend Northeastern Junior College in Sterling.
    Jaydy Dominguez plans to work for a year and then attend school for nursing.
    Cindy Dayanna Espinal plans to attend Northeastern Junior College to study nursing.
    Erick de Jesus Garcia Hernandez plans to work after graduating from high school.
    Isaiah C. Gifford plans to continue working after high school.
    Diana Gonzalez plans to attend an online university program and study nursing.
    Gabrielle Lee Gordon plans to attend Northeastern Junior College and study cosmetology. She received the Holyoke Friends of the Library Scholarship, Colorado Student Grant, Northeastern Junior College HOPE Scholarship, Federal Pell Grant, and Fred and Ella Kropp Family Education Trust Scholarship.
    Trenton Daniel Huffman plans to attend Laramie County Community College in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and major in welding.
    Jillian Renee Hunter plans to attend Colby Community College in Colby, Kansas, and enroll in their vet tech program. She received the Academic ACT Scholarship Award, Colby Community College Band Scholarship, Holyoke Music Parents Scholarship, VFW Zeiler-Owens-Lindsay Post 6482 Two-Year Scholarship and Larry Burt Memorial Scholarship.
    Mauro Juarez plans to continuing working in the agricultural field after high school.
    Cole Gabriel LeBlanc plans to attend Morgan Community College in Fort Morgan and major in business administration.
    Hope Nicole Looka plans to attend Northeastern Junior College and major in nursing.
    Marcos Lopez plans to attend an online university and then go on to graduate school majoring in neuroscience.
    Kyra Lynn Loutensock plans to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, and major in nursing. She received the Seaboard Foods Community Scholarship, Melissa Memorial Hospital Foundation Shirley Claymon Scholarship, FCCLA Member Scholarship, FCCLA Promise Award and Len Balderson Education Scholarship Trust.
    Corben Aaron McCallum plans to attend Northwest Technical College in Goodland, Kansas, and major in precision agriculture. He received the Jolly Dozen FCE Scholarship, Kendon Olofson Memorial Scholarship and Clarence Robert Zoll Trust Scholarship.
    Dylan Joseph Miles plans to attend Colorado Media School in Lakewood and specialize in play-by-play commentating and sports broadcasting.
    Mauro Jesus Morales plans to attend Mid-Plains Community College in North Platte, Nebraska, and major in ag business. Mauro received a Federal Pell Grant.
    Jaqueline Mosqueda plans to attend Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction and enroll in their paramedic program. She received the Holyoke Music Parents Scholarship, Ida Mae Skipworth Memorial Scholarship and Pinnacol Foundation Scholarship.
    Jessica Mosqueda plans to attend Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction and major in criminal justice. She will also wrestle for the school’s women’s wrestling team. She received the Holyoke Music Parents Scholarship, VFW Zeiler-Owens-Lindsay Post 6482 Four-Year Scholarship, Reimer Family Education Trust Scholarship and Pinnacol Foundation Scholarship.
    Jaromi Olivas plans to work full time and start an online criminal justice program.
    Colby Austin Purkey­pile plans to attend Western Nebraska Community College to enter into their lineman school. He received the WNCC Early Admission Scholarship, WNCC Academic Scholarship, Ballyneal Employee Scholarship, Highline Lineman Scholarship, Jolly Dozen FCE Scholarship, Max Bernard Family Scholarship, Kurtis Huss Memorial Scholarship and Vieselmeyer Seed-Pioneer Hi-Bred Scholarship.
    Maritza Quintana plans to attend Red Rocks Community College in Golden and major in forensic psychology.  She received a Federal Pell Grant.
    Emma Christine Roll plans to attend Kansas State University in Manhattan and major in athletic training. She received the KSU Purple and White Scholarship, Chris Allan Eurich Memorial Scholarship, Hutt Family Education Trust Scholarship, and Stanley and Shirley Travis Scholarship.
    Paola Ruiz-Juarez plans to attend Aims Community College in Greeley, then transfer to the University of Northern Colorado and major in chemistry. She received the Holyoke Music Parents Scholarship and Velma Biddle Memorial Scholarship.
    Zander Deon Salyers plans to attend Northeastern Junior College and major in graphic design with minors in music and drama.
    Kirsten Leigh Secrist plans to attend Red Rocks Community College in Golden and major in studio art.
    Keegan Ross Shaw plans to attend Northeastern Junior College and major in music. He received the Holyoke Music Parents Scholarship, Holyoke Class of 1956 Scholarship and Velma Biddle Memorial Scholarship.
    Brenna Dean Sullivan plans to attend the University of Colorado at Boulder and major in chemistry. She received the Chick Evans Scholarship for Caddies, Ballyneal Foundation Scholarship, University of Colorado Mayme Sheridan Preston Scholarship and University of Colorado Regents Scholarship.
    Jesus Guillermo Trejo plans to attend the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and major in athletic training.
    Dario Alfredo Varela plans to work in the ag industry after high school.
    Alex Thomas Vieselmeyer plans to run for a state FFA office in June and then attend college at Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska, to study agricultural sciences. He received the Concordia University Regent’s Scholarship, Concordia University Forensics Scholarship, Lutheran Heritage Award, Federal Pell Grant and LCMS Scholarship.
    Daniel Donald Vernon was recognized with an honorary diploma. He will continue to stay on the farm and be as happy and healthy as he possibly can be.
