Class of 2021 to graduate Sunday on football field

Family, friends and community members are invited to watch 34 Holyoke graduates cross the stage Sunday afternoon, May 16.

Graduation is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the Max Bernard football field. Attendees can bring their own chairs to sit on the grass or can sit in the bleachers. If the weather is bad, graduation will be moved to the Bank of Colorado Pavilion at the Phillips County Fairgrounds.

Prior to graduation is baccalaureate at First Christian Church at 12:30 p.m.

Those who will be assisting with the commencement ceremony include Superintendent Kyle Stumpf, JR/SR high Principal Angela Powell, JR/SR high counselor Ashley Clayton and school board members Pat Wiebers and Justin Clayton.

Students honored for being at the top of the class will give valedictory addresses, and class president Haley Van Overbeke will give the farewell speech.

The American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary will be on hand to present citizenship awards.

Special music will be provided by the seniors of Sound Check and a trio of high school band members.

The Class of 2021 has chosen to commemorate the occasion with the motto “With great power comes great responsibility.” The class color is black, the class flower is a red rose, and the class song is “Good Old Days” by Macklemore.

The 22 graduates from Holyoke JR/SR High School are Ethan Andersen, Joey Beckner, Shyanne Conde, Austin Durbin, Jareth Gardea, Jalen Hunter, Yeidi Juarez, Amy Mackay, Erick Marroquin, Chloie Metzger, Rylee Oakley, LorenJo Oberle, Giselle Prieto Figueroa, Kylie Purkeypile, Michael Rascon, Alejandro Rojas, Rylee Schneller, Aaron Sierra, Alexander Sprague, Emali Torres, Wendy Trevizo and Haley Van Overbeke.

The 12 graduates from Holyoke Alternative High School are Serina Almeida, Llaneli Barajas Duran, Lizbeth Cortez, Aaron Dominguez, Isaiah Houghtelling, Yovana Iniguez, Ashlyn Marcum, Perla Olivas, Jesse Ostermeier, Eduardo Quintana, Michael Pell and Robert Soukup.

The juniors who will serve as grand marshals Sunday are Kristin Vieselmeyer and Cade Killin. Junior class ushers will be Josie Schlachter, Kyleigh Jaeger, Ethan Johnson and Emmanuel Vasquez.
