    Rachel Schneider of Holyoke was named to the Dean’s List in the College of Arts & Sciences for fall 2016 at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. To be included, students must have a minimum 3.6 GPA with 14 graded units completed.
    Nicholas Ortner of Holyoke competed with the Northeastern Junior College livestock judging team at the Collegiate Livestock Judging Contest at the National Western Stock Show Jan. 12. The sophomore team from Sterling competed against 30 teams from across the U.S., placing 10th overall.
    The following week, NJC competed in the National Bison Judging Contest, where teams from NJC took first, second and third place.
    NJC recently honored 55 scholar athletes, including Ortner. To be a scholar athlete, students must have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and be a member of one of NJC’s athletic teams.
