COVID guidelines changing constantly as district prepares for in-person school

Back-to-school activity will take on a different look for students in Holyoke School District Re-1J this year as the whole community adjusts to COVID-19 guidelines.

With no in-person instruction for the last 10 weeks of the 2019-20 school year, adaptation is in place to bring back in-person learning.

Superintendent Kyle Stumpf noted that guidelines and mandates are changing constantly and will continue to change.

Stumpf emphasized that the district has worked hard to make sure there is a solid plan that is safe for students and staff. However, that plan is ever-evolving. Flexibility is essential in managing the plan.

Protocol and procedures are in place for addressing appropriate safety measures while conducting in-person instruction.

A draft of the school re-opening plan can be found on the district’s website at www.hcosd.org. Stumpf points out that this is only a draft as it is subject to change at any time. Changes will be posted as they occur, he added.
