Second grader Addy Kinnie, at left, excitedly points out the Christmas tree and donation drop boxes to classmate Eadlyn Sprague during Holyoke Elementary School’s Christmas food drive Friday morning, Dec. 18. Students were decked out in their pajamas for a pajama-themed dress-up day and brought nonperishable food items to the elementary school gym. They sang Christmas carols as they dropped their items off. In past years, students from all elementary classes gathered in the gym at the same time and sang Christmas songs together. This year, due to COVID-19 precautions, students arrived with their respective classes and filed through the gym to drop off their items. A laptop was set up at the end of the line, and students could wave to other students who were watching from their classrooms as the line went by, and all were singing along with the Christmas music. — The Holyoke Enterprise | Johnson Publications
