FCCLA serves sell-out dinner theater

The Holyoke chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America hosted their most successful dinner theater ever on Friday, Nov. 18, at Holyoke High School prior to the Dragon Theatre Company’s showing of “Shrek the Musical.” The HHS commons area was packed with over 170 guests who had come to enjoy a Shrek-themed meal of tossed “swamp grass salad,” the annual favorite FCCLA bread and “Duloc kabobs” (tandoori chicken with peppers and onions). “Fiona’s dirt cake” was presented family style on the tables in flower pots with faux sunflowers, with trowels for serving. “It was a really fun meal and a great event,” said adviser Karen Ortner. “We’ve never sold out like that before!” FCCLA members who participated in the greeting, serving and cleaning are pictured from left, front row, Samanta Espinal, Annette Trejo, Elyce Sisseck, Valeria Morales, Vianey Jimenez and Alma Alejandre; and back row, Roslynne Doorn, Jeylin Dominguez, Simon Krueger, Marely Favela, Yoselin Peña and Hagan Gatton Pollock.
