FFA holds 89th annual ceremony online
Though the usual banquet and awards program weren’t possible this year because of the coronavirus, Holyoke’s FFA chapter still celebrated member accomplishments from throughout the 2019-20 school year. It seems it would have taken more than a global pandemic to stop the 89-year tradition.
The officer team created a video that was posted online May 12 so that members, families and friends could view the awards ceremony and photos highlighting the year, all while keeping a safe social distance.
Adviser Shauna Strecker recognized this year’s seniors and wished them the best of luck in the future. They are Victor Baeza, Kassidy Porter, Hunter Bergstrom, Lauren Bergner, Remington Hielscher, Tristen Roll, Caleb Deaver, Janessa Lutze, Seth Watson, Deacon Dittmer, Victoria Race and Blake Mosenteen.
The Dekalb Award, awarded each year to an outstanding senior, went to Tristen Roll. Haley Van Overbeke was recognized as the outstanding junior, Tuff Sigler the outstanding sophomore, and Ethan Schneller the star greenhand. Lauren Herman was named outstanding officer. FFA alumni scholarships were received by Tristen Roll and Lauren Bergner.
