FFA/FCCLA Service Sale breaks records

Adirondack chairs auctioned in honor of Jessie Owens

On Thursday, March 31, over 400 community members attended the most successful FFA/FCCLA Service Sale in Holyoke JR/SR High School history.

Advisers Shauna Strecker (FFA) and Karen Ortner (FCCLA) were amazed and humbled at the outstanding community support. β€œIt was unreal,” said Ortner.

Seventy FCCLA and FFA members were individually auctioned off for eight hours of guaranteed work to the winning bidder. While bidding on the first few members began at $125, auctioneers Aaron Schwartz and Wade Quibble quickly fired up the crowd in a way the Holyoke Service Sale had never seen.

Several bids hit the $1,000 mark, a first for the local chapters. At the end of the night, the average FCCLA member winning bid was $592, and the average FFA member winning bid was $729.

The top sellers from each organization were senior Kyleigh Jaeger at $1,300 and senior Miles Sprague at a whopping $2,000.
