Hats off to reading!
Holyoke Elementary School celebrated Hats Off to Reading Week from Feb. 28-March 3. On Monday, students and staff were encouraged to wear hats to school, and the Cat in the Hat was at the front door to welcome kids in the morning. Tuesday was Crazy Mixed-Up Day, and everyone wore crazy, colorful or mismatched clothing. On Wednesday, the school celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss by reading books in the hallways and on the playground at the end of the day while getting cozy with their pajamas, blankets and pillows. The week ended with 100th day of school activities, and some classrooms even dressed like 100-year-olds to mark the occasion.
