Kleve wins district VOD

Holyoke High School freshman Max Kleve recently won first-place honors at the district level of the Voice of Democracy audio essay competition. From there, he joined the winners from other Colorado districts in the state level of the competition.

Sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the 2019-20 Voice of Democracy theme is “What Makes America Great.” In his essay, Kleve points to such things as freedoms, laws, military and business that make America great.

Kleve was one of many high school students to submit essays to VFW Post #6482 for the local level of competition. At the Nov. 11 Veterans Day program at HHS, he was recognized as the second-place essayist and given the opportunity to compete at districts.
