Roll is State Star

Bergner, Lutze, Roll, Watson earn state FFA degrees

Virtual state FFA competition July 17-19 proved successful for Holyoke FFA members.

2020 graduate Tristen Roll was selected as the Colorado FFA State Star in Ag Placement, marking a huge accomplishment in his FFA career.

Additionally, Roll and fellow classmates Lauren Bergner, Janessa Lutze and Seth Watson earned their state FFA degrees. This is the highest honor a student can receive at the state level and is a huge mark of achievement for the recent Holyoke High School graduates.

To receive the state degree, students must have completed at least 25 hours of community service, participated in at least seven events above the chapter level, and earned or productively invested at least $2,500, worked 300 hours or a combination thereof. To complete the degree application, students must have an up-to-date record book.

Along with the state degree application, Roll applied for the State Star in Ag Placement. He was selected as one of four finalists earlier this spring and interviewed before the virtual convention.

Holyoke adviser Shauna Strecker was pleased to announce that Roll was selected for the high honor.
