Shrouded in the darkness of ‘The Addams Family’ is the bright future of Dragon Theatre Company

    In the world of “The Addams Family,” two worlds collided at Holyoke High School last Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16-17. The iconic family of dark misfits found themselves in an uneasy situation as Wednesday Addams brought her boyfriend and his parents home to meet the family. Making the trip from Ohio, of all places, the Beineke parents were just as uncomfortable with the meeting as the Addams.
    Watching the Dragon Theatre Company production may have left viewers with a sense of discomfort, too, if only at the thought of saying goodbye to some of the senior talent at the end of the school year. Dylan Miles has been a fixture on the HHS stage for years now, and he just keeps getting better. From his accent to his impeccable comedic timing, his portrayal of Gomez Addams was good for more than a few laughs.
    Three other seniors took to the stage with Dragon Theatre Company for the first time last week, and it’s sure a disappointment that they didn’t get up there sooner. Nailing the details in the “minor” roles as ancestors, Sloane Bishop and Diana Gonzales, added to every scene they were in. Zander Salyers, on the other hand, absolutely stole every scene he was in. With a pasty bald head and a romantic side, Salyers played a hilarious and endearing Uncle Fester.
