Staff changes, extra duty assignments targeted by Re-1J

New-hires and resignations for Holyoke School District Re-1J staff members, as well as extra-duty assignments for 2020-21, were approved at a brief meeting of the local school board Tuesday, July 21.

The meeting preceded a board retreat at the Paoli Town Hall.

Two teachers and a paraprofessional were hired for 2020-21, and the board accepted the resignation of Chandra Parker from her position as K-6 technology teacher, district technology support and K-6 librarian.

Micah Mehl will serve as JR/SR high social studies teacher. She graduated from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs this spring with a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts with a history major and emphasis in secondary education.

Amanda Brown of Holyoke was hired as a JR/SR high science teacher on a 5/8 contract to teach three sections of eighth grade science and two sections of ninth grade science each morning.

Brown earned her bachelor’s degree in fisheries and wildlife biology while also obtaining her biology/natural resources secondary education certificate from Colorado State University in Fort Collins.
