Staff safely make sure students have what they need to commence online learning

Given that Holyoke students started spring break thinking they’d be back in the buildings one short week later, the school district has been tasked with returning items to students and collecting its own materials while the school building remained closed. The process was made all the more challenging because the coronavirus pandemic meant students couldn’t just go inside and gather their own belongings.

On March 27, staff at Holyoke schools had a system that allowed parents and guardians to drive up and exchange school materials without ever leaving their cars. Things such as Chromebooks were sent home for students to use in the online learning that began March 30. Such things as library books and jerseys were returned to the school.
