Students get moving; local schools encourage physical activity

Holyoke’s new 100 Mile Club started off with a burst of energy last Wednesday, Oct. 4. Students and teachers from kindergarten through high school spent the final 30 minutes of the school day outside on the track. Some walked. Others ran. But everyone was moving. The track was packed, and the crowd even included some parents and community members.
Club sponsors Allie Balog and Scott Dille encourage anyone who is interested in getting in some physical activity to join the club — it’s not limited to students.
For those who are registered for the club, the Oct. 4 event was the first opportunity to log miles. Now, each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday there will be practices from 7:20-7:50 a.m. and 3:45-4:15 p.m. at the HHS track.
