Cade Killin

Students of the Month

Students of the Month for October at Holyoke JR/SR High School have been named. They are junior Karime Castillo, nominated by science teacher Ashley Clayton and HHS secretary Stacey Krogmeier, and eighth-grader Cade Killin, nominated by business teacher Lori Nelson.
Castillo’s nomination letter read, “Ms. Krogmeier and I would like to nominate Karime Castillo for student of the month. This year she serves as my student aide and is always willing to complete every task that I have for her, regardless of how tedious it may be. She does everything with a high degree of organization and thoughtfulness. Even more outstanding is the fact that she is willing to help Ms. Krogmeier out in the office when she is done helping me. She always checks in to see if there are athletic programs to be folded or envelopes to be stuffed. Even though she has her own classroom assignments to work on, she is always willing to go above and beyond to help out in my classroom or in the office.
“Her aiding duties are not the only place where Karime shines. Recently, Ms. Krogmeier witnessed Karime inviting a new student who was sitting alone at lunch to come and sit with her and her friends. It was an awesome example of RISE, and it is typical of the kind of attitude that Karime presents herself with every day, and for that reason she is a great candidate for student of the month.”
Killin’s nomination letter read, “I would like to nominate Cade Killin as student of the month. Cade has almost 100 percent in my computers 8 class and has never had lower than an A in 40-plus assignments. He strives for excellence in everything he does. He is kind to everyone and is willing to help out those that need help. If finished with an assignment early, you will see him working to improve his typing abilities by practicing instead of ‘messing around.’ Cade is friendly and respectful to all of his classmates and teachers. Cade helps set a positive environment and is a model student that others should strive to emulate. I appreciate him so much.”
