Students rock the stage at holiday concert

As Buddy the elf says, the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear. Holyoke Elementary School students certainly did that at their annual holiday concert directed by Marcia Dalton Thursday, Dec. 6, at the HHS auditorium.
With big smiles and waves to their parents, the kindergartners were the first to take the stage.
Their performance included “Peppermint Candy Cane,” “This is My Candy Cane,” “A Hat for My Snowman,” “Chubby Little Snowman,” “Let’s Build a Gingerbread House,” “Gingerbread Boy and Girl,” “The Santa Claus Rock!” and “Feliz Navidad! Joyeux Noel!”
Next up were the second-graders. They sang “Glo-glo-glorious,” “We will Jingle,” “Rock the Holly” and “Merry Christmas Time.”
A special group for “Cancion de la Navidad” included Brandon Lopez Hernandez, Juan Nuñez, Angel Samaniego Nieto, Denise Granados and Izamar Montes Beltran. “Christmas Card” featured Kynlea Nelson, Reece Trumper, Victoria Baeza, Alyson Chavez Bustillos and Marley Mackenzie.
Joke tellers during “A Silly Holiday Song” were Izzy Perry, Gael Ramirez, Elizabeth Horsley, Kelsey Hermosillo Bustillos, Ryker Ring, Isai Torres, Leah Armendariz Ochoa, Michell Trejo, Joselyn Reynoso, Brandon Adler, Deisi Medrano and Sofia Figueroa Aldaz.
Snowmen who got the crowd pumped up for “Rock ‘n’ Roll Snowman” were Brandon Adler, Leroy Lee, Tanner Haynes, Mason McCormick and Carlo Ramos Castillo.
Featured second-graders on “Just One Candle” included Lily Sprague, Raia Sprague, Lili Vasquez, Gizem Barraza Rico, Rebekah Krieger, Farrah Koberstein, Kyle Goldenstein, Braylin Herman, Molly Kropp and Mariana Peña.
Holyoke fourth-graders proudly presented a musical play called “The Reindeer Whisperer.”
It’s the day before Christmas Eve, and before the annual test drive, Santa finds out the reindeer can’t fly. Or is it that they won’t fly?
Along comes Cesar Salad, the reindeer whisperer, who uses his keen sense of understanding, mastery and in-depth knowledge of reindeer lore to hear what no elf has heard before. The adorable reindeer are back and ready to pull the sleigh just in time for Christmas.
