Wisdom, Miles honored by BOCES

    At the annual summer meeting of the Colorado Boards of Cooperative Educational Services Association in Glenwood Springs, Jay Wisdom and Bret Miles, both from Northeast Colorado BOCES, were recognized with awards.
    Wisdom received the All State Board Award. The Colorado BOCES Association acknowledges BOCES board members who have provided exceptional service and leadership to their local BOCES with this award.
    Nomination letters on behalf of Wisdom commented on his dedication to the Northeast Colorado BOCES Board.
    Northeast Colorado BOCES Executive Director Miles said, “BOCES board members are serving on two boards at the same time. We appreciate that Jay is committed to making himself available for planning meetings, signing contracts and all the duties that come with being a board president while being fully committed to the Haxtun board as well. It takes a special kind of dedication to excel in both roles, which Jay does.”
    Also noteworthy in the nomination of Wisdom was his vision of using the BOCES meetings as an opportunity for local school board members to learn from each other. He dedicates time on each meeting agenda to hear from the 12 member districts about achievements and interesting work happening locally.
    Northeast Colorado BOCES provides supports to about 4,000 students and 350 educators in school districts Akron, Fleming, Haxtun, Holyoke, Julesburg, Lone Star, Merino, Otis, Peetz, Revere, Wray and Yuma.
