17 letterwinners bring know-how to HHS football

High school football season kicks off for the Holyoke Dragons this Friday, Aug. 30, in Haxtun at 7:30 p.m.

“For the first time since I’ve been the head coach, we’ve got a really large group of seniors,” Dusty Sprague said. “There’s nothing like having a senior that’s played a lot of football games, and a lot of these guys have had to play since they were younger.”

The 12 seniors make up a large portion of the team, but the experienced athletes aren’t limited to that class alone. Several sophomores and juniors on this year’s team have also logged some serious playing time in the past.

Last year’s letterwinners returning for the 2019 season are seniors Luis Chafino, Blake Mosenteen, Mikey Ramos, Slaten Burris, Miguel Soto, Seth Watson, Hunter Bergstrom, Alexis Vega, Luis Reynoso, Andrew Rivera and Caleb Deaver; juniors Ethan Andersen and Joey Beckner; and sophomores Miles Sprague, Kaison Kinnie, Aidyn Shafer and Cade Killin.
