3-on-3 tournament draws 90

     Ninety local youths spent their Presidents Day at Holyoke JR/SR High, testing their basketball chops in a 3-on-3 tournament sponsored by the City of Holyoke Recreation Department and Dragon Booster Club.
     The tournament was open to first- through eighth-graders and drew 24 teams from Colorado and Nebraska. Members of HHS boys and girls basketball teams volunteered as referees for the games.
     In the grade 1-2 bracket, LR2, including Raia Sprague, Reece Trumper and Lili Vasquez, placed first, and Dunkers placed second.
     Fireballs, including Aubrey Bieber, Lia Sprague and Keylan Quezeda, took first in the girls grade 3-4 bracket, and Fly Girls took second.
     Finishing first in the boys grade 3-4 bracket was Haxtun Hot Shots, made up of Luke Gales, Hunter Hershfeldt, Madden Larsen and Jackson Trum. Mini Warriors placed second and Dashers third.
     Lady Cougars placed first among the girls grade 5-6 teams. The team included Piper Buettenback, Ryen Carlson, Abigail Dille and Lainee Nein. Laffy Taffys finished second and Slam Dunk Sallies third.
