4 games, 4 wins for Holyoke softball

The Lady Dragons softball team was on fire last week with two wins over Chase County, Nebraska, 12-4 and 11-8 on Tuesday, Aug. 30, and two more wins over Burlington 11-3 and 15-6 on Saturday, Sept. 3.

After Tuesday’s doubleheader, coach Kendra Schlachter said the girls are starting to think more in depth about the plays and where the next play can be made. “It’s fun to watch them start to understand the game at a whole new level,” she said.

In the first game against Chase County, Holyoke had 16 hits and 13 stolen bases. Pitcher Aliyah Engle had eight strikeouts for the Lady Dragons.

In the second game, Parker Steggs went four for four at bat, said Schlachter. She also pointed out that after a rough inning, Elyce Sisseck tied the game at eight with a two-run double. “After that they rallied to take the lead for good,” said the coach.
