5 HSC swimmers double up on league titles, season high points

    Holyoke Swim Club finished up the summer season at the league meet in Burlington last Friday and Saturday, July 6-7. In addition to individual and team awards for the meet itself, swimmers were also competing for high-point honors for the entire Northwest Kansas Swim League season.
    HSC saw five swimmers take both first in the league meet and in total season points in their respective divisions. Among 15-18-year-olds, Rylee Schneller was the top girl, with 35 points for the meet and 119 for the season. Keegan Shaw won boys 15-18-year-old honors with 33 and 136. In the 11-12-year-old girls division, Tayla Martin earned 35 and 119. Teagan Martin topped the 9-10 boys with 30 and 135. Among 8 and under girls, Taige Chappell won with 30 and 110 points.
    Other trophy winners for season high points were:
    — 15-18 girls — Regan Van Overbeke, 2nd, 92 points; Haley Van Overbeke, 3rd, 88; Lali Marquez, 5th, 72; Traeli Hutches, 6th, 66.
    — 13-14 girls — Summer Martin, 5th, 62.
    — 13-14 boys — Ethan Schneller, 4th, 66.
    — 11-12 girls — Marren Dirks, 6th, 63.
    — 11-12 boys — Carter Van Overbeke, 5th, 66.
    — 9-10 girls — Mylee Dirks, 6th, 40.
    — 9-10 boys — Riley Powell, 3rd, 96; Rorey Schneller, 6th, 60.5.
    — 8 and under girls — Molly Kropp, 2nd, 97.
    — 8 and under boys — Ridley Brinkema, 2nd, 91.
    As a team, HSC finished the league meet in second place. Goodland won with 426 points, followed by Holyoke 413.5, Burlington 272.5, Colby 149, Wray 130, Oberlin 75 and Oakley 58.
    On top of the many other honors, Holyoke swimmers set three new pool records last weekend. Tayla Martin clocked a 0:33.16 in the 11-12 girls 50-yard backstroke and a 1:12.15 in the 100-yard individual medley. Rylee Schneller finished the 15-18 girls 100-yard backstroke in 1:14.30.
