5 returning letterwinners lead young team
HHS girls basketball opens the season at the Corridor Classic Tournament in Byers on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 1-2. Varsity girls play Strasburg Friday at 4 p.m. to begin the tournament.
“We’re excited to get going,” said coach John Baumgartner. With seven sophomores and eight freshmen comprising the bulk of the lineup, it’s still a young team, he added. “We’re looking forward to seeing how we measure up in the league this year.”
Senior Grace Dille returns as an All-Conference selection last season. Joining her as returning letterwinners are juniors Savannah Burris and Kaylee Camblin; and sophomores Emily Jelden and Taeryn Trumper.
Other team members are sophomores Josie Herman, Janessa Lutze, Victoria Race, Sarah Razo and Shianne Willmon; and freshmen Laura Conde, Evelyn Espinoza, Yeidi Juarez, Kylie Purkeypile, Ashley Rahe, Emali Torres, Taylor Trumper and Chloie Metzger.
