8 young letterwinners head up 2018-19 girls swim
Holyoke High School’s girls swimming team will be participating in its season opener this Thursday, Nov. 29, at Eaton High School at 5 p.m.
For the first time in several years, the 2018-19 team will include no seniors. Instead, leading the pack are eight sophomore and junior letterwinners, who coach Aly Brinkema are confident will fill the gap left by the class of 2018.
“Our juniors have really stepped up as leaders,” she said. “We’re excited to be building the team up over the next few years.”
Letterwinners include juniors Brenna Gatton, Traeli Hutches, Lali Marquez and Jackie Valenzuela, and sophomores Demiah Hernandez of Julesburg, Amy Mackay, Haley Van Overbeke and Rylee Schneller.
