Baker Mousefield takes the gold

It was Baker Mousefield in lane No. 1 that claimed the gold medal in Dragon Booster Club’s second annual fundraising endeavor at the Phillips County Event Center Friday, Aug. 2.

Not only was it a win for mouse owners Bob and Mary Billings and Dusty and Megan Sprague, who donated their winnings back to the Booster Club, the evening was a huge win for Dragon athletes who will benefit from the funds raised.

When it comes right down to it, all who attended were winners for enjoying an evening of rather unusual entertainment, as well as good food and company.

Booster Club president Allie Balog said that final numbers aren’t in for the fundraiser but they’re looking to top $17,000, which is comparable to last year’s event.

A total of 301 tickets were sold this year, with 194 actually attending.

“It’s a lot of work, but it’s for the kids,” Balog said. “It’s nice to be able to provide camp experiences and more for the kids — things that aren’t financed by the school athletic funds,” she added.
