Baseball led by 6 returning letterwinners

Eighteen Holyoke High School athletes make up the 2018 HHS baseball team, which has already seen its first wins to start the season. On March 19, HHS won both home games in their opening doubleheader against Wray.
The team is again under the direction of head coach Sam Distefano, assistant coach John Baumgartner and volunteer coach Marcus Kammer. A number of former players also returned to the team this year. Distefano acknowledged that they will be making some adjustments as a result of four seniors graduating last year, but they’re excited for the season.
Though the team that remains is on the younger side, they have a strong core of experienced players, Distefano said. The six returning letterwinners who make up that core are juniors Mauro Morales and Jesus Trejo and sophomores Blake Mosenteen, Slaten Burris, Seth Watson and Caleb Deaver.
Also on the team are senior Omar Millan; junior Dylan Miles; sophomores Hunter Bergstrom, Victor Baeza, Luis Chafino, Alexis Vega, Max Cano and Luis Reynoso; and freshmen Cameron Skager, Tate Dille, Jesse Vasa and Isaiah Houghtelling.
