Boys basketball falls in weekend game at Caliche

    Having traveled to Caliche for a Feb. 8 basketball game, Holyoke High School came up short 49-37. It was quite the close game that the Buffaloes won in a fourth-quarter push.
    Things were slow to get started for both teams in Saturday’s game. In the first quarter, the Dragons made a single 3-pointer, and the Buffaloes posted just six points.In the second, both teams kicked things up a notch. Holyoke added 20 and Caliche 14, taking the score to 23-20 at halftime.
    Back for the second half, Holyoke scored seven points in each of the remaining quarters. Caliche narrowly surpassed the Dragons with 11 points in the third and sealed their fate with 18 in the fourth, winning the game 49-37.
    Leading the Dragons in points was Miles Sprague with 16. Slaten Burris led in rebounds, pulling down 14. The two teams saw similar performance from the foul line, each making four of 10 attempted shots.
