Boys dominate Fleming basketball

After a couple of losses the weekend before, the Dragons seemed to find their stride with a win in their home opener against Fleming in high school boys basketball action.
Holyoke High School took an early lead and finished the Dec. 9 game ahead 59-26. Coach Scott Dille commended the team members for their effort and focus.
The game looked like it might be close at the start. The Dragons scored 17, mostly from the field, but Fleming had 10 themselves, including a couple of nice 3-pointers.
Holyoke slowed a bit in the second quarter, scoring only 11. Fouls by the Dragons put Fleming in position to make six free throws in that quarter alone. At the half, HHS had a 28-18 lead.
Though they were already successful in the first half, Dille pointed to the third quarter of Saturday’s game as a major turning point. They changed up both their offensive and defensive approaches with good results, he said.
