Boys JV, C team win in Merino

    Traveling with the varsity team, Holyoke’s JV and C team boys had games in Merino and Haxtun and against Sedgwick County at home last week.
    In the Dec. 12 Merino games, Holyoke JV won 38-27, and Holyoke C team won 33-10. Only JV played in Haxtun on Dec. 15, and they lost 33-16 against the Bulldogs.
    Hosting Sedgwick County on Dec. 16, Holyoke JV fell 33-16, and Holyoke C team lost 35-18.
    
Holyoke JV 38, Merino JV 27
    In last Tuesday’s JV matchup in Merino, the Dragons came out on top, 38-27, in a three-quarter game.
    The competition started out close, with the Dragons leading just 13-11 after the first quarter. In the second quarter, Holyoke kept making their baskets, but Merino struggled to overcome the Dragon defense.
    Going into the final quarter, Holyoke had a 10-point lead and ultimately won 38-27.
    Fabian Gonzalez was Holyoke’s leading scorer with 13 points, followed by Alec Sprague 11 Isaiah Houghtelling six, Aaron Sierra four, and Jarrett Woodhead and Matt Yost with two each.
