Boys open with win over Perkins County

Holyoke High School boys basketball team got off to a great start this season, defeating the Perkins County Plainsmen 51-44 in Grant, Nebraska, Tuesday, Jan. 26.

Coach Marcus Kammer was happy with the victory, especially considering this was Holyoke’s first game and Perkins County’s 17th.

“We got off to a hot start and finished well,” Kammer said. “For a first game, we didn’t expect everything to look perfect.” He noted that there were some struggles in the middle quarters both offensively and defensively, but overall the team’s effort was good and some struggles can be expected with the excitement and nerves of a first game.
