Boys swim with Valley HS team

    Two Holyoke swimmers are competing this season with the Valley boys swim team and already opened the season at the Windsor Invite Saturday, March 9.
    Senior Keegan Shaw, a returning letterwinner for the Viking team, qualified for last year’s 4A state swim meet in the 100-yard freestyle. HHS freshman Tristen Ferguson joined the team this year. The two practice locally and compete with the Valley boys.
    Holyoke coach Aly Brinkema said they are looking forward to another season of boys high school swimming. However, she pointed out that this year comes with new challenges.
    Valley High School in Gilcrest does not have a pool this season due to school construction. Home meets will be held in Estes Park, which makes the long drives for the HHS swimmers even longer.
