Brinkema named Coach of Year

While it was no surprise to those who know Holyoke girls swim coach Aly Brinkema, she called it a “big, big shock” when she was named Coach of the Year for the Patriot League at the conference meet in Eaton on Saturday, March 6.

“She is so modest, but she is truly an outstanding coach,” said swim team parent Michelle Van Overbeke.

This is the third time that Brinkema has earned this honor, but the first time that it was a solo selection.

The first time, she shared the honor with the Windsor coach, and last year it was a three-way honor with Brinkema and coaches from Berthoud and Skyline.

Brinkema is admired by her student-athletes, parents and the community as a whole.
