Cloughs deliver at raceway points finale

The Clough brothers were the drivers to watch at the Aug. 25 championships at Phillips County Raceway. Racing in three different divisions, Kyle, Brandon and Tanner each took to the track gunning for the season high-points victory. Of course, the fun isn’t quite over yet. The true finale is a doubleheader scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 29-30, at PCR.
At the Aug. 25 event, modifieds had the tightest race for season points, with the top three racers all within six points. John Burrow Jr. had a two-point lead over Brandon, who bested his competitor in their last appearance at PCR. In Friday’s feature race, Brandon, driving No. 20B, took an easy lead and won the race, but Burrow’s second-place finish was enough to keep the season victory.
Driving stock car No. 11K, Kyle went into the night with a six-point lead. Drivers struggled to get the feature race going as wrecks led to several restarts. Finally, on the fourth try, they completed the first lap. Moving from the back to the front to the back and then settling into a third-place finish, Kyle scored enough points to keep him in the lead and he finished the PCR season in first.
Tanner, driving car No. 1, began with an 18-point lead in the hobby stock division. He overcame some car troubles during the second half of the feature race Friday and finished in third, cinching the season victory.
