Now, five years later, he made his debut at the 2024 Boys’ Golf State Championships which were held Monday, October 7 and Tuesday, October 8 at The Rolling Hills Golf Course in Golden, Colorado.

Deaver Ring qualified for the CHSAA State Golf Tournament after shooting an 87 at regionals and placing 19th. At state, he finished 71st while shooting a two day total of 195.

Talking to Coach Colbey Stumpf and Deaver-Ring after the State Championship, Deaver Ring said the best part about making it to State was getting to experience playing on a nice course and gaining valuable experience for next year. As far as what he learned while he was there, the Junior golfer said the importance of focus and preparation, which he feels will help him next year to get back to State and play golf at a more competitive level.

Coach Stumpf shared the following commentary on the 2024 season for the Dragons, “This season was a great season for our team and many individual players.

Our JV kiddos improved greatly over the course of the season. Coach Kleve and myself try to focus on consistent improvement and getting better every single day. As a varsity team this year we are able to place top five multiple times throughout the season. We were also able to have individuals place in the top 5 on multiple occasions. Throughout the season, we had every golfer shoot personal bests. Cozner’s experience at state will prove to be very beneficial going into next season as a senior. While making it to state is a great accomplishment, he is very hungry for next year. Our goal is to get several golfers to state next year and build on our success we had this year, both as a team and individuals.”

The HHS Boys Golf Team is led by Head Coach Colbey Stumpf and Assistant Coach Matt Kleve. Playing for the Dragon Golf Team this season were Freshman Bodhyn Ring and Cooper Hielscher; Sophomore Rorey Schneller; Juniors Joseph Helfer, Ben Austin and Cozner Deavver-Ring; and Seniors Marcus Laws and Ben Kleve.
