Dille is 2A Coach of the Year

He makes a point to teach humility and teamwork at every turn, but it’s time to take a little credit. HHS boys basketball coach Scott Dille has been named Colorado 2A Coach of the Year.
Dille, an HHS coach for 11 years and head basketball coach since 2010, has helped shape a remarkable program, with the Dragons recently bringing home a state championship trophy after their fourth straight trip to the state tournament.
However, he views the recent award as more a reflection of the team, not his personal coaching ability.
“It would be selfish of me to think this says anything about me,” said Dille. He said the award is similar to what he sometimes tells his team about stats: “Stats are like bikinis. They show a lot, but not anything important.”
The coach said he has been blessed at both ends, naming his family, assistant coaches and various mentors along the way as those supporting him, but also emphasizing the great teamwork from unselfish players that support each other.
“I love when you get a group like this one,” he said. “They’re not as worried about the individual, and that’s what team sports are really about.”
Dille is certainly a promoter of the bigger picture when it comes to coaching. “You can use a sport you like to teach about bigger things than just basketball,” he said.
