Dirks competes at state golf tourney
Ty Dirks ended the boys golf season by competing at the state tournament, held Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 3-4, at the Pinehurst Country Club in Denver. Dirks was the only member of the Holyoke boys golf team to qualify for state this year and represented his team well.
He and coach Colbey Stumpf were given a send-off from Holyoke by several members of the community on Sunday, Oct. 2. On Monday, Dirks played well and shot an 83. He continued to play well on Tuesday and ended the day with a shot of 85.
Dirks ended the tournament as part of a three-way tie for 52nd place, with a total score of 168, only 34 points behind the first-place winner from Montezuma Cortez.
