Dragon fans invited to cheer on girls at home

The Lady Dragons volleyball team is looking for community support as it faces county rival Haxtun on Friday, Sept. 2, and Merino on Tuesday, Sept. 6. Both matches, which are league games, are at 4 p.m. in the Holyoke JR/SR High School gym.

Coach Irene Ortega said the girls got to watch Haxtun play a little at a tournament at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling last Saturday, Aug. 27. Knowing what they’re up against, the team can now make small adjustments before playing the Bulldogs later this week.

Ortega said they’ll have to get strategic in Tuesday’s game if they want to keep up with Merino’s fast transitions and quick tempo.

After a long day of volleyball Saturday, Holyoke came home with two wins and two losses.
