Dragon football shut out by Limon

HHS football fell in league action at Limon 41-0, Friday, Oct. 6.
It was nearly a repeat of last week’s game when the Dragons suffered a 40-7 loss at Burlington.
Holyoke came back better in the second half Friday night, but it was too little too late as the Badgers had a 34-point lead. One more second-half touchdown gave Limon the 41-0 victory.
It was a tough game, said coach Dusty Sprague. Limon scored quickly and then it just snowballed, he added. Holyoke made some mistakes early and Limon took advantage, said Sprague. The Badgers scored their first touchdown within the first four minutes of the game for an 8-0 lead. Before the end of the first quarter, Limon put up another six points for a 14-0 score.
Holyoke struggled both offensively and defensively during the game, said Sprague. Second quarter was tough on the Dragons as the Badgers racked up 20 more points with a 34-0 lead at halftime.
Sprague said the team played better in the second half, but it just wasn’t enough to put the ball in the end zone. The kids did a better job with the fundamentals and played with good attitude and effort, he added. Even though they were managing better offensive plays and better at stopping the run, the Dragons lost to the Badgers 41-0.
