Dragon offense heats up cold night

Cold weather didn’t hinder Holyoke’s offense when the Dragons defeated the Wiggins Tigers 34-6 Friday night, Oct. 23.

Holyoke put up a total of 34 points in the contest, 20 of which came in the final quarter, to improve their record to 2-0 on the season.

Solid defensive and special teams play were also on hand, as the Dragons held the Tigers to a single touchdown and came away with three interceptions and a kickoff return recovery.

The Dragons had a three and out on their first possession, and Miles Sprague’s punt set the Tigers up at their own 39-yard line. Getting a first down in the series, the Tigers ultimately turned the ball over on downs, and the Dragons began their second possession at their own 28.

The Dragons began to march down the field, securing three first downs, including a 25-yard reception by Wyatt Sprague. On a fourth-and-goal play, quarterback Miles Sprague rolled left and connected with Bryson Dirks for a 16-yard touchdown pass for the first points of the evening.
