Dragon A team girls are tourney champs

    A big week of junior high Holyoke girls basketball culminated in winning the East A tournament Saturday, Feb. 11, over Sedgwick County and Wray. The girls played at Merino for the league championship Tuesday, Feb. 14, with results to be reported in next week’s Enterprise.
    In addition, both junior high A and B teams saw action Tuesday, Feb. 7, in Haxtun and Thursday, Feb. 9, in Burlington.
    
    East A tournament

    In Saturday’s A tournament, the girls defeated Wray 36-24 in the first round before winning the championship 42-29 over Sedgwick County.
    In the 36-24 Holyoke win over Wray, Taylor Trumper led in scoring with 10 points, followed by Kristin Vieselmeyer nine, Emali Torres eight, Yeidi Juarez five and Lauren Herman four.
    Playing Sedgwick County for the 42-29 championship win, Torres scored 17, followed by Ashley Rahe 14, Vieselmeyer five, Juarez four and Herman two.
