Dragons come out on top in Burlington

Holyoke didn’t lead until there was less than five minutes left in the fourth quarter, but the Dragon football team kept it close the whole game and led when it counted to beat the Burlington Cougars 14-13 Tuesday night, Nov. 3.

With just under six minutes remaining in the game, the Cougars took over on their own 39-yard line. They were beset by three penalties in a row, giving them a second down and very long to go.

Bryson Dirks read the pass attempt and came up with an interception to set the Dragons up from the Cougar 42.

The Dragons capitalized on the turnover. On fourth down and five, Miles Sprague completed a 37-yard touchdown pass to Wyatt Sprague to even the score at 13. Ivan Ponce’s PAT kick was successful, nudging the Dragons ahead 14-13 with only 4:46 left to play.
