Dragons declaw Tigers in road win

Dragon football defeated Wiggins 41-26 on the road Friday evening, Oct. 15, to improve to 5-2 on the season.

Wyatt Sprague returned the opening kickoff all the way to the end zone to give the Dragons an immediate lead.

The Tigers answered with a touchdown on their first possession and got another in the second quarter, but two more first-half touchdowns gave the Dragons the 21-12 lead at halftime.

Holyoke scored two touchdowns to Wiggins’ one in the third to lead 34-20, and both teams scored a touchdown in the last quarter for the 41-26 final.

“They went out and played with great attitude and effort, and it’s amazing what happens when you play that way,” coach Dusty Sprague said of the Dragons’ performance.

He was pleased to note how well Holyoke played on offense, defense and special teams.
