Dragons end football season with a win

Never trailing in the ballgame, the Dragons ended the 2017 football season with a 10-6 victory at Wiggins Friday, Oct. 27. Holyoke closed out the season with a 3-6 record.
The Dragons caught three pass interceptions throughout the game Friday night, stopping the Tigers in their tracks. Holyoke led 7-0 at halftime and added a third-quarter field goal.
Not to be shut out, Wiggins managed one touchdown late in the fourth quarter.
Coach Dusty Sprague said he is proud of the kids. “It was exciting to end the season with a win,” he said. The team needed and deserved it, and they worked hard and hung in there, he added.
Holyoke kicked off to Wiggins to start the game. Both teams started out slow. Wiggins had a quick series of downs and punted. In the Dragons first offensive possession, they tried an unsuccessful punt fake and turned the ball over on downs at the Wiggins 41-yard line.
After another Tiger punt, Holyoke moved the ball downfield to score in just over three minutes on the clock. Seth Watson’s handoff to Michael Ramos and a good PAT kick by Alexis Vega gave Holyoke a 7-0 lead with 2:11 on the first-quarter clock.
