Dragons end regular season with win

Holyoke boys basketball closed out the regular season with a 78-60 win at Caliche last Friday, improving their record to 11-8.

The Dragons now set their eyes on the postseason. They were scheduled to host Akron in the first round of districts Tuesday night, Feb. 22, and the winner of that game will face Yuma in the district semifinals Friday, Feb. 25, at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling.

Coach Colbey Stumpf said the Dragons distributed the ball well, spread out the offense and put a lot of good shots up against Caliche.

He said that while the Dragons’ defense was lackadaisical at times, he was proud of the way they made adjustments in the second half, putting the pressure on Caliche and creating turnovers.
