Dragons fall to Wray in final game of 2019; consistency will be key in new year

The 1-5 record of the Holyoke High School boys basketball team doesn’t make the first half of the season look very good, but those who have been following the Dragons know that the record doesn’t tell the whole story.

There have been games in which the team has performed under pressure from the foul line and others in which it was nearly unstoppable from outside the 3-point arc. Young Dragon athletes have stepped into bigger roles than they’ve ever played before, and experienced athletes have shown what it means to play smart. In the times the Dragons have trailed, some of the players have shown exceptional hustle to stay in the game until the very end.

But as coach Marcus Kammer put it, they’ve played really good basketball in spurts while struggling to put a whole game together. Though the team will have a bit of a break for the holidays, Kammer said they will be focusing on consistency as the Dragons head into the second half of the season.
