Dragons fall to Wray in last home game of season
It was a mild fall evening Friday, Oct. 20, for the final home football game for the HHS Dragons.
Before the start of the game, the team celebrated Parents Night by introducing players and their parents to recognize and appreciate parents’ contributions.
Wray dominated in the 34-6 win over Holyoke. The Eagles held a 14-0 advantage at halftime and racked up an additional 20 points in the second half.
To save a shutout, late in the fourth quarter, Dragon Seth Watson connected with Luis Chafino on a 69-yard pass. On the next play, a 3-yard Watson pass to Michael Ramos in the end zone secured the Dragons only touchdown.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t the last score in the game. Only 16 seconds later, Wray scored again on a 45-yard touchdown pass, defeating Holyoke 34-6.
Coach Dusty Sprague said the kids played hard and he is proud of their attitude and effort. “We were close to capitalizing on a couple big plays, but just couldn’t convert,” he said.
Sprague is excited for the final game. “We set goals at the beginning of the season and one of them was to win the last game,” he said. We want to go in to the off season with a win, he added.
