Dragons finish long day of volleyball with 2 wins, 2 losses

A long day of tournament play resulted in two wins and two losses for the Holyoke High School volleyball team Saturday, Sept. 7, at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling.

“Overall, I was happy with how they were playing,” said coach Michelle Vieselmeyer, noting the varsity players were performing better as a team Saturday.

“We’re on the right track,” she said, and the way the underclassmen have stepped up makes her excited for the future of Lady Dragon volleyball. More girls are also getting on the stat sheet with kills and serves, Vieselmeyer pointed out.

Holyoke sailed through the first two games with big wins over Heritage Christian and Caliche.

Next up was Merino, and even though the girls lost in four sets, coach Vieselmeyer said it’s definitely one of their best matches so far.

By the fourth and final game, HHS pushed Akron to the very end but finished the day with a three-set loss. Vieselmeyer said she’s looking forward to meeting the Rams again later in the season when the girls are fresh and focused.
