Dragons place 6 wrestlers in Chase County Invite

Six Dragon wrestlers placed in the Jan. 12 Chase County Invitational in Imperial, Nebraska, and coach Dusty McConnell called it an overall great tournament.
All but one of the HHS participants placed in the tourney, and that seventh wrestler was in a really tough bracket, facing top opposition, noted the coach.
For Holyoke, Jessy Mosqueda at 106 lbs. and Luis Chafino at 160 both earned runner-up honors in the 16-team tournament.
Deacon Dittmer went 4-1 to take third at 152 lbs., and Michael Ramos also finished third at 170.
In the 145-lb. bracket, Jesus Trejo placed fourth, while Andy Lopez finished fifth at 182 lbs.
Jessy Mosqueda and Jacky Mosqueda at 113 lbs. both drew some tough matches in the tourney, which coach McConnell sees as fortunate as they move closer to the first-ever Colorado girls regionals Feb. 2.
Chafino lost a match due to a disqualification Saturday, but McConnell was pleased that he was able to shake that and come back to finish in second place.
All the moves that Ramos is learning are coming together well, said McConnell, adding that he hopes to see a regional place by the 170-lb. wrestler.
