Dragons see one of best tourneys of year

With only four wrestlers strong, the Holyoke High School team wrestled what coach Dusty McConnell called probably one of their best tournaments this year at the Bob Smith Invitational in Wray Saturday, Dec. 21.

Led by Luis Chafino’s first-place finish, all four Dragons saw a match win at Wray to gain strides in their confidence.

At 170 lbs., Chafino met the No. 5 ranked wrestler from Fowler in the championship, earning a pin in 4 minutes. Back from an injury, Chafino had a great tournament.

Going 2-2 in the 126-lb. division, Carlos Legarreta showed much improvement from last week’s tournament in Limon, McConnell said.
